The point of leaving a firefighter at the entry door is to help ensure a safe exit for the firefighters who went inside. This firefighter’s sole job is to observe conditions and report back to those inside, and the IC,  using the verbal version of three horn-blasts.

This position is often a temporary assignment; once the hoseline goes inside, it should now suffice as the guide as it gets deeper and deeper into the structure heading to the fire room(s)>>>
