Firefighter And Civilian With Minor Injuries

MyFoxNY 10/11/09

A fire broke out in a hi-rise on 735 Lincoln Avenue shortly after 6pm in Brooklyn today. There were minor injuries as the fire spread from the fifth floor to the six floor of the 18 story building.

Extensive fire and smoke damage was visible outside the building as many residents were lucky to get out as the fire department was arriving.

Resident Charles Combs witnessed what was happening. "I saw fire and smoke coming out at about the third floor. I went inside and came back out and the next thing I noticed was that there were about 30 fire engines.

Abas Ibraham, 12, who lives on the fourth floor, quickly grabbed his family, his cell phone, and called 911. "I was just coming out of the building and I saw glass falling down and I looked up and saw fire on the fifth floor and the wind started blowing it towards other floors."

Terraces were left blackened and scorched as residents ran for cover. The fire department said that there were no unusual accidents though the apartments in the building have been damaged extensively.
