A woman has died after a fire tore through a five-story building in the Bronx.

A fire official says that the woman was pronounced dead at Montefiore Medical Center on Sunday afternoon.

The city's medical examiner is expected to determine the cause of her death.

The fire at the Bronx building on Decatur Avenue was reported just before 2 p.m. Firefighters brought the blaze under control in less than an hour.

The fire official says the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
