"I have relatives who are retired firefighters and police from New York," said Scott Rothman. "So, this is going to be something pretty cool. I'm really looking forward to doing it."

Many motorcycle riders are on the road Thursday to remember the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Thursday morning, 115 riders revved up their engines in the parking lot of the Kmart store in Manheim Township, Lancaster County.

They will join other riders on the route to Shanksville, Pa., the Pentagon and New York City.

This is the ninth year for the event that raises money for scholarships for the families of first responders.

"I have relatives who are retired firefighters and police from New York," said Scott Rothman. "So, this is going to be something pretty cool. I'm really looking forward to doing it."

State Senators Mike Brubaker and Lloyd Smucker helped kick off the ride.

The event takes place in august because organizers believe September should be a time of mourning.
