City Cleans Up After Overnight Storms

The city is cleaning up from a batch of thunderstorms that struck overnight.
While the storm passed quickly around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, it was strong enough to down scaffolding near Jefferson and Madison Streets on Manhattan's Lower East Side.
No one was hurt in the collapse.
Downed trees on the Upper West Side damaged cars parked along Central Park West, seen right.
The rain did note do much to break the heat and humidity, as a heat advisory remains in effect.
Cooling centers are open in all five boroughs including many senior centers.
