Six Iraq War Vets Land In Hoboken

As Part Of Wounded Warrior Project

The Jersey Journal 8/16/09

Six injured Iraq War veterans from Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. made their way to Hoboken from across the river today for a tour of Hoboken organized by the Wounded Warrior Project.

The six Iraq War veterans -- Cory Bowles, Kyle Barnhart, Brian Mancini, Jason Murphy, Patrick Ruiz and Robert Stewart -- made their way from Manhattan to Hoboken via a 110-foot FDNY fireboat at around 12:45 p.m. today. They were welcomed ashore by ex-POW veterans of World War II, and Korean War and Vietnam War veterans, from Hoboken. Hoboken's Acting Mayor Dawn Zimmer and Fire Chief Richard Blohm also greeted the veterans for their 3-hour tour of Hoboken, which included lunch at Hoboken's Fire Department Museum (213 Bloomfield St.) and Carlo's Bakery (95 Washington St.)
