SAN DIEGO: New York City Fire Department's famed pipe and drums corps will perform at a charity event tomorrow at the San Diego Firehouse Museum.
The Fire Department of New York City Emerald Society Pipes and Drums is made up of active and retired firefighters who volunteer to compete at events and play at parades, weddings and funerals.
After the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the band performed at the funerals of 457 firefighters and others who lost their lives when the World Trade Center collapsed. New York's Fire Department lost 343 members.
The San Diego Firehouse Museum event, which begins at 6 p.m., will raise money for the museum and the annual USS Midway Museum's Sept. 11 memorial service.
Tickets are $25, which includes drinks and food. The Firehouse Museum is at 1572 Columbia St. near Cedar Street. The event is being organized by the museum and the FDNY Retirees of Southern California and the San Diego, North County and Orange County Firefighter Pipe & Drum Bands.
