FDNY Chaplains Bless Marine Fleet

The Fire Department's chaplains led the annual blessing at the Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum yesterday for the department's Marine Fleet.
The FDNY Marine Fleet consists of more than 30 vessels that patrol and protect more than 450 miles of coastline and harbors.
"Today we are here to bless the fleet, a century's old tradition that calls on divine providence to safeguard ships and crews from the seas and to ensure a safe return to the port," said Salvatore Cassano of the FDNY.
The Marine Fleet was among the first responders when U.S. Airways Flight 1549 splash-landed in the Hudson River in January.
