Firefighters battled a huge fire that burned through an apartment building in Brooklyn Tuesday evening. The 3-alarm fire spread to two buildings next to the apartment building, the FDNY said.

Firefighters responded to the scene on Flatbush Avenue in Flatbush just after 6 p.m. They had the fire under control by about 7:30.

Nine firefighters and one police officer suffered minor smoke-inhalation injuries, authorities said. No one else was hurt.

The fire started on the first floor of the building and quickly spread upstairs, punching through the roof.

The fire is under investigation.
