One Staten Island woman died Friday after a fire tore through her home.
It began just before 5 p.m. on Craig Avenue in Tottenville.
Neighbors say they were not able to save 62-year-old Rosemary Brown.
"We ran in, we got water, tried to throw it, you know, [see] if there was anything we could do," said neighbor Jack Chapman. "Not much we could do until the firemen got here."
"We were able to get up to the room and get to the lady, but at that point, she was in the room where the fire had started and she was very badly burnt," said FDNY Deputy William Tanzosh.
As of Friday night, officials did not know what had caused the fire.
