Residents Displaced After Fire Breaks Out In Queens Home
NY1 News 1/29/09
A two-alarm fire that broke out inside a Queens home Thursday morning remains under investigation.
It happened around 10 a.m. at 129th Street and 103rd Avenue in Richmond Hill. The fire also caused minor damage to a home next door.
Fire officials say the fire most likely started in the basement from work being performed on a boiler. The flames then quickly spread to the other floors in the two-story building.
"It's scary because it happened so quickly, you don't really have a minute, you just have to grab something and go if you even have a second and to stand here and look at that, honestly, it was really bad and the fire department did a really great job of getting it out so quickly," said one resident.
Officials say all four occupants made it out safely by the time firefighters arrived.
